Which size BIBS Pacifier should I choose?
This depends very much on your little one, it may be that your little one needs a larger teat than 'standard' because, for example, a tongue tie was too tight - which means he or she now needs a larger teat because of a high palate. This is therefore different for every little one.
However, if we assume normal babies, who are completely healthy in the mouth, then there are 3 sizes.
- Size 1 is for babies from 0 - 6 months
- Size 2 is for 6 - 18 months
- Size 3 is for 18+ months
Now it is also the case that Size 3 is limited available. Most collections and cozy pacifiers are available in size 1 and size 2. What exactly are BIBS Pacifiers made of?
The BIBS pacifiers are made of natural rubber, also called latex. It is a natural product, which makes it more susceptible to influence than, for example, silicone pacifiers. BIBS also has silicone pacifiers in their range, these are often bought by parents whose little baby is allergic to natural rubber. The BIBS team has thought about this very carefully!
The advantages of natural rubber are that it is of course more environmentally friendly. It is of course completely free of plastic and harmful substances. Think of BPA, dyes and of course hormone disrupting substances. A baby has a pacifier in its mouth for hours, and your mouth naturally absorbs everything into the body. So as natural as possible is the best!
Natural rubber is soft and forms to your baby's mouth. Through frequent use and sucking on a BIBS pacifier, these will also expand over time.
Advantages of silicone teats is that they can withstand heat well, so you can really boil them. This is not possible with natural rubber teats. The teat does not expand after use.
