Who is Naïf?

The two young fathers Sjoerd Trompette and Jochem Hes developed the brand Naïf when they became fathers and discovered that even baby products contained 'junk'. What is the philosophy behind Naïf?

Naïf has a strong goal and that is '' changing the world of cosmetics ''. ''Every person is born Naïf by nature: pure, honest and unbiased. We want to keep it that way. Harmful ingredients, difficult words and misleading claims are not part of that.'', according to the founders of Naïf: Sjoerd Trompette & Jochem Hes. Naïf is transparent and honest, so ''what you see is what you get and Naïf is what you get'' and suitable for everyone. The two fathers have taken on the challenge to strive for 100% natural, free of harmful ingredients and environmentally friendly products. This story started when Sjoerd Trompette and Jochem Hes became fathers. They were both always aware that cosmetic products are full of "junk". But they discovered that this also applied to many baby care products. This had to change! :)

Is Naïf free from harmful ingredients?

Yes, that is one of Naïf's main goals! Naïf products are 100% harmless to your skin or baby's skin. The products are free of chemical preservatives, mineral oils and harsh chemicals. In addition, the products are hypoallergenic and pH skin neutral. The harmful ingredients are replaced by natural ingredients such as cottonseed and avocado oils. The products are also environmentally friendly developed. For example, there are no micro-plastics in the packaging, they are 100% recyclable, they have refills and they adhere to a strict raw materials plan. Because the products are developed in this way, Naïf products are also completely suitable for skin with eczema and common things like diaper rash.

What certificates does Naïf have?

Naïf is a richly certified brand. Since October 2020, they are even one of the 77 B-Corps in the Netherlands. Receiving a B-Corp certificate is truly unique. A B-Corp means that the company is transparent, ethical and sustainable. The mission of the company is not just about profit and lives up to the highest standards for both the environment and society. Some examples of B-Corps are: Tony Chocolonely, Dopper and Triodos Bank.

Naïf also has a number of logos, these logos stand for certificates. We have listed them below:

• I'm Green Plastic : Naïf packaging is made from sugar cane. This means that there is less CO2 emission during production and that the residual waste can be reused. Completely sustainable!
• Vegan Logo : Naïf products do not contain any ingredients derived from animals. And are of course free from animal testing.
• Zero Plastic Inside : Naïf products are free of microplastics, microplastics are small plastic residues that end up in nature, for example in the ocean. Naïf products are free of these, so environmentally friendly!
• Triman : The Triman logo was developed to make people aware of separating materials for recycling. Naïf's bioplastic packaging can be separated from 'normal plastic'. You can also just throw them in the plastic container!
• RSPO Logo : Many Naïf products contain ingredients derived from RSPO certified palm oil. This means that the palm oil is produced under conditions. These include: no child labor, decent wages, no valuable forests are cut down, etc.

What nourishing ingredients are in Naïf products?

Naïf uses natural ingredients, is vegan and animal friendly. The ingredients are nourishing, caring, cleansing and make hair & skin shine. But most importantly: they are not harmful! A lot of attention is paid to the ingredient formulas of the products, after all, the products must be 100% no nonsense. But which ingredients exactly? We have selected a few for you! (for babies)

• Cottonseed oil : Cottonseed oil comes from the seeds of the cotton plant. Cottonseed oil is particularly rich in vitamin E and intensely moisturizing.

• Avocado oil : Avocado oil comes from the flesh of the avocado. Avocado oil is packed with vitamins (A, B1, B2, E and D). Avocado oil also contains unsaturated fatty acids.  fatty acids, this contributes to dry skin & hair. Avocado oil is an oil that absorbs very well into the skin, so no greasy layer remains.

• Sweet Almond Oil : Sweet almond oil is the perfect ingredient for super soft smooth skin.

• Macadamia oil : For dry and rough spots (e.g. diaper rash) macadamia oil is a good remedy. The oil does not leave a greasy layer.

• Wheat protein : Wheat protein is moisturizing and caring. It softens and prevents hair and scalp from drying out.

• Flaxseed Extract : Flaxseed is full of omega-3, omega-3 is known for its calming effect on the skin. It works well against itching and skin rashes.

• Shea butter : Shea butter comes from the vitellaria Paradoxa tree, the vitellaria paradoxa tree is only found in the east and west of Africa. Shea butter is rich in vitamins A, E and F and essential fatty acids. Shea butter also ensures that the sebum production (a part of the skin) remains in balance. Super good for the skin!

Do the Naïf products contain perfume?

Yes, Naïf products contain perfume. Don't worry! The perfume is allergen-free and synthetic without phthalate. This means that there is a very, very small chance of allergic reactions. This perfume is really not comparable to 'normal perfumes'. It even seems to be less harmful to your newborn. It is up to you as a mother to decide whether you want natural perfume (made from essential oils), allergen-free perfume or no perfume at all. In any case, you can use the products with a clear conscience if you normally prefer not to use perfume. By the way, Naïf is known for its fantastic soft, own Naïf scent!

What does Naïf's range look like?

Naïf started with baby care, of course. But soon there was also a great demand for care products for adults. The range is now much larger. The Naïf range is divided into four categories: Baby & Kids, Personal Care, Sun and Gifts & Bundles.

The Baby & Kids category contains products that are specially developed for the vulnerable baby skin (including eczema). The line contains skin care products and wonderful products for in the shower and bath. But also baby wipes and hair lotion for kids. The products are super good for dry skin and protect the vulnerable baby skin against dryness and diaper rash.

The Grown-Ups product line contains super soft skin care for the face and body, such as a scrub, body lotion, oil, etc.
