Who is Naif?

The Dutch brand Naïf sells soft skin and hair care products, (initially) for babies & kids and now also for grown-ups! The two young fathers Sjoerd Trompette and Jochem Hes developed the Naïf brand when they became fathers and discovered that even baby products contain 'junk'. The two fathers stand for no-nonsense and no false promises on packaging. What you see is what you get ! All Naïf products are 100% natural and free of chemical preservatives and harsh chemicals. Naïf dwells on the fact that too many cosmetic products (including baby products) contain harmful ingredients. And wants to change this, they do this very well, so well that the Naïf products can now be found in various hospitals and hotels!

What is the philosophy behind Naïf?

Naïf has a strong goal and that is '' changing the world of cosmetics ''. “Every human being is born Naïf by nature: pure, honest and uninhibited. We would like to keep it that way. Harmful ingredients, difficult words and misleading claims are not part of that,'' say the founders of Naïf: Sjoerd Trompette & Jochem Hes. Naïf is transparent and honest, so ''what you see is what you get and Naïf is what you get'' and suitable for everyone. The two fathers have taken up the challenge of striving for 100% natural, free of harmful ingredients and environmentally friendly products. This story started when Sjoerd Trompette and Jochem Hes became father. They were both always aware that cosmetic products are full of "junk". But found out that this also applied to many baby care products. This had to change! :)

Is Naïf free of harmful ingredients?

Yes, that is one of Naïf's main goals! Naïf's products are 100% not harmful to your skin or baby's skin. The products are free of chemical preservatives, mineral oils and harsh chemicals. In addition, the products are hypoallergenic and PH skin neutral. The harmful ingredients are replaced by natural ingredients such as cottonseed and avocado oils. The products have also been developed in an environmentally friendly way. For example, there are no micro-plastics in the packaging, they are 100% recyclable, they have refill packaging and they adhere to a strict raw materials plan. Because the products have been developed in this way, the Naïf products are also completely suitable for skin with eczema and common things such as diaper rash.

What certificates does Naïf have?

Naïf is a richly certified brand. Since October 2020 they even belong to 1 of the 77 B-Corps of the Netherlands. Receiving a B-Corp certificate is truly unique. A B-Corp means that the company is transparent, ethical and sustainable. The company's mission is not just about profit and adheres to the highest standards for both the environment and society. Some examples of B-Corps are: Tony Chocolonely, Dopper and Triodos Bank.

Naïf also has a number of logos, these logos stand for certificates. We have listed them below:

• I'm Green Plastic : Naïf packaging is made from sugar cane. This means that there are less CO2 emissions during production and that the residual waste can be reused. So completely sustainable!
• Vegan Logo : The Naïf products do not contain any ingredients from animals. And of course they are free from animal testing.
• Zero Plastic Inside : Naïf products are free of microplastics, microplastics are small remains of plastic that end up in nature, for example in the ocean. Naïf's products are free of this, so environmentally friendly!
• Triman : The Triman logo has been developed to make people aware of separating material for recycling. Naïf's bioplastic packaging can be separated from 'normal plastic'. By the way, you can just throw them in the plastic container!
• RSPO Logo : Many Naïf products contain ingredients derived from RSPO certified palm oil. This means that the palm oil is produced under certain conditions. You can think of: no child labor, decent salary, no valuable forests are cut down, etc.

Which nourishing ingredients are in Naïf's products?

Naïf uses natural ingredients, is vegan and animal friendly. The ingredients are nourishing, caring, cleansing and make hair & skin shine. But most importantly, they are harmless! A lot of attention is paid to the ingredient formulas of the products, after all, the products must be 100% no-nonsense. But which ingredients exactly? We have selected a few for you! (for babies)

• Cottonseed oil : Cottonseed oil comes from the seeds of the cotton plant. The cottonseed oil is especially rich in vitamin E and intensely moisturizing.

• Avocado oil : Avocado oil comes from the pulp of the avocado. Avocado oil is packed with vitamins (A, B1, B2, E and D). Avocado oil also contains unsaturated  fatty acids, this contributes to dry skin & hair. Avocado oil is an oil that absorbs very well into the skin, so no greasy layer remains.

• Sweet almond oil : Sweet almond oil is the perfect ingredient for super soft smooth skin.

• Macadamia oil : Macadamia oil is a good remedy for dry and rough spots (for example diaper rash). The oil does not leave a greasy layer.

• Wheat protein : Wheat protein is moisturizing and nourishing. It softens and prevents dehydration of the hair and scalp.

• Flaxseed Extract : Flaxseed is full of omega-3, omega-3 is known for its soothing effect on the skin. It works well against itching and skin rashes.

• Shea butter : Shea butter comes from the vitellaria Paradoxa tree, the vitellaria paradoxa tree is only found in eastern and western Africa. Shea butter is rich in vitamins A, E and F and essential fatty acids. Shea butter also ensures that sebum production (a part of the skin) remains in balance. Super good for the skin!

Is there perfume in the Naïf products?

Yes, there is perfume in Naïf products. Don't worry! The perfume is allergen-free and synthetic without phthalate. This means that there is a very, very small chance of an allergic reaction. This perfume is really not comparable to the 'normal perfumes'. It seems to be even less harmful to your newborn. It is for you as a mother to determine whether you want natural perfume (drawn from essential oils), allergen-free perfume or no perfume at all. In any case, you can use the products with confidence if you normally prefer not to use perfume. Incidentally, Naïf is known for its fantastic soft own Naïf scent!

What does Naïf's range look like?

Naturally, Naïf first started with baby care. But soon there was also a lot of demand for care products for adults. The offer is now much larger. The Naïf range is divided into four categories: Baby & Kids, Personal Care, Sun and Gifts & Bundles.

The Baby & Kids category contains products that have been specially developed for the fragile baby skin (including eczema). The line contains skin care products and delicious products for the shower and bath. But also baby wipes and hair lotion for kids.
