Pomade has been used for ages to style hair and make it shine. It keeps straight locks in place so that they don't fall apart in strings. A pomade is a fairly wet product, only the creams are even wetter. That's why they are often used for classic looks, such as the 50s and 60s slick looks. The hold can vary greatly, but the shine is usually high and therefore suitable for those polished looks. An exception to this are the clay pomades, which are a kind of hybrid product of a pomade and a clay. These often give a higher hold and a more matte finish.

Pomades are available in different strengths and are available in water-based and oil-based. Because a pomade is often a bit wetter, you can also use some pomades well when you have wavy or curly hair. Haarspullen offers you a large assortment with the best brands such as DOOP , Affinage and of course Reuzel . Use the product filters to see which Pomade suits you best.

What is the difference between a water-based and oil-based pomade?

The popularity of pomades has increased tremendously in recent years. This is also reflected in the fact that there are now water-based pomades. It is obvious that one is water-based and the other oil-based, but the question is which one is ideal for when. A water-based pomade is incredibly easy to wash out, which is a big difference with an oil-based pomade. You can't restyle a water-based pomade as well, you often have to wet your locks a bit. You also need more of it, precisely because it is easy to wash out.

Traditional pomade is oil-based. Your locks will stay in place perfectly in all weather conditions. You may have to run your fingers through your locks to style them again, but then they will be just like they were in the morning. This also means that you have to make more effort to wash the pomade out of your locks. You need less of an oil-based pomade, as it is less easy to wash out. So there will always be a little bit left in your locks, so you will need less the next day. However, this is not a problem, today's pomades contain many natural oils that also take good care of your locks. So it is not an attack on your hair.
